Edinburgh take on Malia
The next day Hollie came round with t-shirts and we headed off to the pool party. It was lively and the reps worked hard to keep everyone involved and having fun! From games to rules to dancing to drinking we had soon thrown ourselves into the Malia lifestyle, topped off with a foam party at the end. More than a little bit tipsy, we headed back to the hotel to grab some food and continue drinking. We were soon absolutely smashed, and when we headed into our room to get ready for our first night on the strip we took an unplanned spooning nap for 2 hours. After being woken up by the boys at our hotel and realising the time, we rushed about to get ready and headed out about midnight. Immediately on the strip we were bombarded with cheap drinks offers from promoters, meaning we were blootered for the second time that day within half an hour. When you're being offered 3 triple mixers, 3 shots and a fishbowl for 5 euros it's hard not to! On the plus side it made for cheap nights out. The rest of the night passed by in a blur of bars, clubs, drinks and laughs, and we were eventually all in bed in horrific states by 6am.
The next morning we woke up with the worst hangovers known to man (except for one of us who was still drunk) and recovered with a great fry up in the George and Dragon then by the pool with a cocktail or two, nothing like hair of the dog! At night we headed out to a charity event organised by Scene at Pleasure Beach and danced away, but our bodies were still recovering from the night before so afterwards we got pizza, our hair braided and headed back to the hotel for a few before bed.
Friday we woke up feeling fresh and headed down to the George and Dragon again, as the 2.90euro breakfast was calling! We spent the rest of the day tanning (or burning!) by the pool. At night we went out for dinner, which left us so full we were unable to move, so we spent the rest of the night at the hotel bar drinking and playing cards, before heading to bed for an early(ish) night at around 3am.
On saturday we woke up earlier and travelled on a very long, very hot coach to WaterCity, but the hellish journey was well worth it for the views on the way and the slides – 'cause you're never too old for waterslides! We got back and had a quick change and were ready for the UV Paint Party. We walked down to Pleasure Beach where we got given a beautiful white boiler suit to stop our clothes getting covered – not that we ended up keeping them on! Everyone was absolutely covered in paint – in your nose, your hair, eyes.. you get the picture. We had an amazing time, but of course we had to head back to the hotel for a shower before we could go out down the strip. An hour and a whole lot fresher later we headed out, and were yet again drunk before we made it to the second bar. Introduced to the headfucker, we decided there was not a hope in hell we were ever ordering them! If our first night was messy, this one was outrageous. We would love to tell you about it but we can't remember much/any of it, all we know is that it was Saturday night and we were staying out til the clubs closed at 7am. True to the promises we made ourselves, the sun was shining by the time we made it home. The hangovers did not kick in as we remained drunk for the next 24 hours.
Sunday brought the Pukka Up boat party – after a stop on the way there so someone could spew... Determined to keep the party going we started drinking, making the mistake of ordering raki. It tastes like the after-taste of vomit. We got ourselves more involved in games, one of us launching herself off the side of the boat to catch a beer can – massive fail. The combination of drinking, sun and swimming in the sea knackered us and we crashed out on the bus home.
Monday was spent around the pool resting up for our last night out of the holiday. Night brought the Full Moon Party at Bikini Beach, and as if the night wasn't warm enough, there were fire dancers on the stage! After a change of clothes we went back down the strip to begin the rest of our last night. We bumped into all the Scene reps who were handcuffed in twos for a bar crawl as it was one of the reps birthdays. The cheap drinks soon got us in a state and the blur of music, dancing and shots soon set in.
Our last day was spent with a rush to pack before checkout time and then recovering by the pool while we waited for our flight. We've enjoyed our time in Malia and are gutted to be heading home but at least we have the Naughty Reunion to look forward to in November! #Frixos minions!
